Make your thoughts tangible to get the clarity you need
A busy day can leave you with a busy mind.
A busy mind makes problem-solving tasks tough to do, as your thoughts tend to be cluttered and disjointed.
Clearing your mind helps. People say going for a walk or getting fresh air are ways of doing this.
While those are great, and often a good starting point, I have found there is another way to get your thoughts flowing clearly. Move to a place away from your usual workspace and write, type, or draw out your thoughts.
Seeing your thoughts in front of you allows you to focus and get momentum on the task.
When there is a lot on the go, just thinking about the problem with a cluttered mind can get you nowhere and make you feel more overwhelmed.
Don’t think about the problem. Put your problem into something tangible in front of you. Even if it’s just words, bullet points or rough sketches.
What you can do today:
- To clear your mind, step away from your workspace for a walk or fresh air.
- Then move to an unusual place and write, type, or draw out your problem.
- Get a sense of clarity, focus, and direction as you emerge out of the sea of clutteredness. 🙂
Don’t leave your thoughts spinning through your head. Get your thoughts down in front of you.
