Passion Project – A landing page to market a service: “High school kids know nothing about university”
Do you remember being confused about what to study at university?
You can choose between so many degrees before starting at university. Like me, many people I spoke to during university had struggled to find out what was involved in each degree so they could make the best decision before starting to study.
I teamed up with a few friends to try to solve this knowledge gap that high school kids face when choosing what to study.
I made a website where the high school kids, or their parents, could book a slot for one of our information sessions.
Our initial goal was to host information sessions explaining all the options across the different faculties at the University of Cape Town. The kids could then ask us questions. We hosted a couple of sessions before we realised that the business model we were using wasn’t strong enough to sustain the project. I think there is still an opportunity to fix this issue by going to high schools, speaking to the kids, and finding out the next way to tackle this challenge.
