Think. Do.

A task pops into your head. It could be for work. It could be a chore. It could be admin.

You should probably do it soon.

Do it straightaway!

Do the task in that moment that you’ve thought of it. Don’t write it in your to-do list. Don’t try think of reasons why it would be better to do another day.

If you do it in that moment, it’s done, and you don’t need to do the extra work of planning to do it.

This is naturally suited to smaller tasks. Most of the time, those are the tasks that bug us the most, but give us quick value by knocking them off. They are tasks we leave to get back to at some point, but then build up and cause frustration or mental overwhelm.

What you can do today:

  • When you think of a small task, don’t write it down or postpone it.
  • Do it.
  • Have a completed task that you don’t have to think about again! 🙂

Sometimes the best way to get things done is to do, and not worry about the best time to do. Keep things simple. Think. Do.
